Just Write Something, No One will Read it anyway

I tried to get my Canadian license yesterday, which apparently is usually just a quick sign of the pen and an eye test. BUT of course it wasn't. You see, first of all, for everyone in Canada, you need to prove you've been driving for at least 2 years to get a full license...fine by me, I've been driving for 12. BUT my OH one was renewed in July of this year---hmmm, ok, well, you know, the US and Canada are friends and all so they should be able to bring up the original info on the computer. Type, type, type goes the lady. Well, my computer record that they could pull up only showed me driving since July 2008. Ahh. So now I have to get an Abstract from the DMV. No problem the lady says...you should be able to get one faxed this afternoon or tomorrow. Here's our fax number. BUT after searching dmv.com they only accept applications via mail (costing $2, check or money order) or in person (which bizarrely costs $5.50!!!--makes no sense). Why are government agencies the last to catch up with the rest of the world? Oh, wouldn't that be easy! Then, on the application for an Abstract that I can print off, there's only space for a US address for shipment. What good will that do me? And of course: Allow 14-21 days for processing.
